Example #3,569 of how far the California GOP has its head up its ass. An invitation for a fund raiser for Tom Del Becarro, is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at a secret location. Probably at a mansion in Moraga with Hispanics dressed in starched white uniforms serving some cocktail wienies while on their knees. The GOP may have freed the slaves, but don’t go too far, now.
The sorry state of GOP affairs can be illustrated by the likelihood that, with some notable exceptions, many Republicans will argue that the:
A) hosts are exactly what’s wrong with the California GOP, and
B) in an ongoing effort to insulate themselves from rubbing shoulders with or explain themselves to the rank and file or moderates, the hosts will be the only carefully screened guests allowed to attend the super-duper private event to help reelect the California GOP Vice Chair, Del Becarro.
In stark contrast, Contra Costa Democrats usually have their events in public places and invite one and all. You might get an elbow in the kidney but at least Dems let you eat a couple of a wienies first before the rough stuff starts or Mark DeSaulnier starts cracking wise, whichever’s worse.

Do you people even read what you are writing? RINO HUNTING? If Republicans don’t meet your special test they should be ousted from the Republican party? How special you all must think yourselves to be.
Administrator – you were worried about Republicans not being invited to a secret location? I think you should be more concerned about people going to an event when RINO HUNTING could be the day’s activity.
Back in the day a guy named Ronald Reagan (remember him?) spoke of a Big Tent. I guess you all think the tent is too big since it includes people you don’t deem to be real Republicans. Pretty soon you can hold your secret meetings in a pup tent.
Why not focus on what you can agree on. Not what you don’t agree on.
As for the Cummings gentleman it sounds as if he was trying to see that the requirement for party membership be enforced. Back in the day real Republicans believed in the rule of law. Guess that changed too.
~ EDITOR REPLIES — I do not condone licensed or unlicensed RINO hunting. I have consistently argued for new ideas to reinvigorate the GOP from a variety of perspectives. My point in “You are not invited” was that if GOP events were not secret but open and held at public places instead of some inner sanctum or private residence, a more diverse group could more easily mingle together socially instead of having to pass some unknown litmus test just to learn of the whereabouts of the event.
Unfortunately, when it comes to the GOP in California, BIG TENT seems to be nothing more than a code term for CLOWN SCHOOL: from the riff-raff with pitchforks to the hoi polloi who refuse to mingle with the natives.
Walter you are very welcome!! You are right get Alameda free from the RINO’s the only place for them in Alameda County is in the Oakland Zoo. Keep fighting!!
Joanne you have a nice looking sight. You should write about the CCGOP. They are a very entertaining group!! I recieved another email today to attend the fundraiser for the “Great Leader” at the secret location. The article you sight (even though it is the SF chronicle) is devistating. I have watched the AD15 registration slip to the point that we lost the seat this year. We need new leadership from the right!!
chairman paul cummings = dirt bag
anyone with any common-sense can see what’s going on with the alameda co gop! with the overhaul of the CRP leadership, and the departure of neo-con-nehring, it would be fitting to dump paul dumbings too. what the hell has this guy done other than pick political fights with his own party members? the paul dumbings power grab has failed. personally I feel that he has given my alameda co gop a bad name. no one wants to hear about republicans fighting with republicans during an election year. what is this guy thinking? i hope that the new-comers can repair the damage that paul dumbings’s social club has caused!
i loved the sf chronicicle stories. i’ve never seen a single positive story written about republicans in that newspaper, let alone two! keep it up!!
a win in the court of law…..check
a win in the court of public opinion…..check
can’t beat that!
Freak of the far right, Always nice to hear from you my friend! I’m glad to see that there are some real conservatives on HalfwaytoConcord!
I haven’t heard anything from Dean about running again. I’m honored by your kind words about me taking a shot at Congress though. I believe that we need more active participation from regular, everyday people in government. You know, “we the people, for the people, by the people.” I’m tired of the same old musical-chair politicians, moving from one office to another, boasting about their “experiance,” when they know nothing about their oath to “protect & defend” the U.S. Constitution!
I would like to focus on the Alameda County Republican Central Committee, for now, and build a base of truly conservative Republicans. If we get that place to start acting like Republicans, anything is possible! Then I might just consider a run for State Assembly! Now, wouldn’t that be fun? Take care friends!
Hello,
I recently started to check out your website, via claycord.com. I just started my blog, crazyinsuburbia.blogspot.com.
Anyway, I’ve found your GOP rants, especially the one about the Contra Costa GOP fundraiser for Tom del Beccarro amusing. (I’m also on the county GOP email list). If I get a chance, I might do a post about them.
In any case, I thought you might enjoy this story from today’s SF Chronicle about dwindling GOP numbers statewide:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/12/08/BANA14I7MF.DTL
I love all the RINO hunting everyone wants to do. The reality is that RINO’S IN GOP ARE BECOMING if they are not already EXTINCT. John McCain was a bizarre sort of hybrid Republican. I know he was pro-life but he did not embrace the conservative movement until he wanted to run for the GOP nomination. McCain like a lot of politicians they will mouth what they think you want to hear if they think it will get them elected. He reminded me of a Vietnam era Bob Dole. He was smart to pick Sarah Palin because she excited the only people left supporting the Republican Party, the super conservatives. McCains pick of Palin was the old fighter pilot pulling four aces in a poker game. But he lost every subsequent hand he was dealt up until election day and like his record as a fighter pilot he crashed and burned.
The GOP is down to its base of support. There may be a few Rinos to knock off like the one Walter has in his sights but in general the conservative movement is in charge and has run out of gas.
Like the Dems in 2000 to 2005 we will have to wait in the woods until the American people will give us another chance.
I recieved a newsletter the other day from the California Republican Party showing all the events statewide. Every event is at a named location. Except for the Contra Costa GOP. They are having their Christmas party at a secret location.
I think Reefer had it right they should have meetings and events at public locations so that everyone can attend instead of a secret location where only party insiders can attend.
~ EDITOR ADDS — And to top it off the secret Contra Costa GOP “holiday celebration” is actually a fundraiser for Tom’s re-eelction bid; so bring your check book.
That’s the Christmas Spirit we’ve all come to know and love from the CCRP!
ho Ho HO
Walter my man!! Good to read you on halfway to concord! Now that Andal has gone down to miserable defeat and with your take over the Alameda GOP you need to run for Congress and lead the revolution back. There is a rumor that Andal may run again!!
Can I go RINO hunting with you Walter? I would consider myself a constitutional republican!!
Thanks for the kind words Renegade Republican! We just received word that the fake conservative Paul D. Cummings Jr., Chairman of the Alameda County GOP and Executive Director of Subsidized Housing, has decided to appeal the court’s ruling.
Now, I will work to not only fight the self-proclaimed “liberal-Republican” in court, but I will also attempt to have him removed from the Chair, and ultimately the committee. After that, I’m sure that the former registered Democrat (I guess that’s what “liberal-Republican really means) will re-join his former party. Then the Alameda County GOP will be a better place!
I have had the pleasure to meet Walter Stanley III, GOP Livermore City-Chair and he is a great fellow. He is standing up for what is right in the Alameda GOP.
Fight on Walter!!

I’ve witnessed the same exclusionary attitude with my own Alameda Co. Republican party. That’s why I was happy to hear of the lawsuit victory by the upstart Constitutional Republicans over the RINO chair Paul Cummings. If the county party wants to look to the future, the first thing to do would be to get rid of Paul Cummings. Hard to believe that the Executive Director of Subsidized Housing is also the Chairman of the County GOP.
Okay.. so, I’m a student at a CSU. I’m supposed to be researching an article on politics and stumbled across this. So, you’re upset because someone is having a party and you’re not invited? If you were invited would we still be reading this??
…. NEXT SUBJECT!!!!!!!!!
~ EDITOR REPLIES — Let me know when you need help moving out of California to find a job. I will be busy that day, too.
Does anyone have any question why Republicans stood in line in Lafayette, BART Stations, Walnut Creek and Todos Santos to reregister. There is still no hope there. Two for two. Have a nice party 15AD and 11CD.
Disillusioned Mouseketeer,
“Grumpy old Republican?” I guess if you mean “grumpy” about how things are currently going in the Republican Party… You’re probably right. My comments may be somewhat off topic conserning the blog-posting, however, I noticed the admin had posted a comment about the Press Release that I sent him. My intent was to offer some clairification to the viewers on the subject.
Regarding your “Where did the title Livermore City-Chair come from? I’m an elected member of the Alameda County Republican Central Committee in the 15th Assembly District, which includes the city that I live in, Livermore. I was elected back during the June 3rd Primary Election and my term ends two years from now. I was asked to be the Livermore City-Chair by the Executive Director, and the Treasurer of the Alameda County GOP, which does exist on an ongoing basis.
For just being “curious”… You sure do have a heated tone. I hope that you’re not upset that we won the lawsuit friend!
If you need an example of a grumpy old Republican Walter Stanley III would fit the definition. Besides, where did the title Livermore City-Chair come from? There are often city captains for a particular campaign but not that exist on an ongoing basis. Or at least that what I have heard spoken of here in Contra Costa County. It this like a phony Kentucky Colonel title this guy awarded himself? Just curious. I will give his the title of Captain Grumpy if he wants it.
His tirade is not even on topic. Tired of talking back to the radio Captain Grumpy?
The judge’s ruling affirms the obvious… The California Statewide Direct PRIMARY Election is exactly what it says it is… A “PRIMARY ELECTION.” The statute of limitations for contesting a “primary” election is 5-days, as opposed to 30-days for a “GENERAL ELECTION.”
I’m sorry that your well-known Republican Party attorneys, and your San Francisco big-shot lawyer couldn’t understand the difference between the two. Face it, the GOP can’t win elections (beacuse the R.I.N.O. leadership has broken away from the conservative base and traditional limited government platform) and they can’t win lawsuits (because of their Chairman’s complete incompetence).
Maybe next time the establishment Republican Party will think twice before going after it’s own elected Republican volunteers and instead, focus on winning elections against the opposing Party!
Don’t Tread On Me… Chairman Paul Cummings!
Chairman Paul Cummings said Wednesday that the judge “got the law wrong” and that Judge Roesch’s “bizarre interpretation of what an election is certainly surprised me and has our counsel dumbfounded.”
Chairman Paul Cummings doesn’t even understand his own committee bylaws, let alone California Election Law! Maybe he should let judges interpret ‘election law’ since that’s their area of expertise. As far as the Chairman’s “dumbfounded counsel” goes…. Don’t mind him, or the McCain Campaign lawyers, or the Republican Lawyers’ Association that were all out done, out classed and ultimately defeated by normal, everyday people without law degrees. This was truly a win for the people… by the people!
Congratulations Alameda County Constitutional Republicans! *Special Thanks* to all of our supporters from near and far. This victory is for all of you! You guys and gals are the best!
Thanks for the post!
Walter Stanley reports that a Superior Court judge has:
“denied the suit by Paul Cummings, the Alameda County Republican Central Committee (ACRCC) Chairman (LISTED ABOVE AS A HOST FOR TOM DEL BECCARO’S SECRET FUNDRAISER), against the Alameda County Registrar of Voters and seven Constitutional Republican defendants.
“In his suit, Cummings had sought to have the election of the Constitutional Republicans to the ACRCC voided and the memberships on the Committee to which the defendants were elected declared vacant, which would enable him to fill the ACRCC with individuals of his selection.
“As we hoped, with moral support and financial assistance from many liberty-minded individuals we were able to prevail in court, and retain our seats on the Central Committee to which were elected by the Republican voters of Alameda County. Thanks to the many people who have supported the Constitutional Republicans in this unequal fight!”
