BGR, my point is Wilson had the nomination given to him last time because of his name ID. He did not work hard enough in the primary (and was shocked when he did win) and did not try to raise the money it takes to win in the general election until the election was almost over. His campaign last time was lifeless as he focused to much of his time as being mayor of San Ramon in stead of trying to win the Assembly seat. At the time the stock market was melting down in 2008 he ran these horrible ads about alternative energy while Buchanan was running on fiscal responsibility and basically seized the issue from him. He looked silly when he tried to say she was for the Peripheral canal. He focused his campaign on reaching out to moderates when he should have been turning out his base which was disillusioned and demoralized. Moderates were going for Obama and the Democrats he needed a dwindling number of Republicans to win. Now the registration numbers are shiftiing more and more to the democrats. The last time I checked it was a 4.5% registration advantage for the Democrats. What will it be by election day 2010? Maybe 6%? That is not good.
Mr. Wilson please respond here and tell us why you deserve a second chance?
I think this line of populist adumbration of Wilson is misplaced.
I am sure the campaign would welcome any support.
If you simply RSVP’d and explained that $250 was beyond your reach right now but that you’d be happy to walk precincts or use your rollover minutes to help call potential voters, or stuff envelopes, you’d be welcome to the event and all the shrimp you can eat.
Theres no need to be intimidated by the realistic appeal for peciniary support…just volunteer!
Cyberdog, I’m starting to wonder the same things. Mr. Wilson appears more than willing to repeat the same mistakes that cost him the last election. You don’t charge for a “campaign kick off”, just looks tacky and really spits in the eyes of the boots on the street needs to win in AD-15.
Why Wilson? How about someone else? Why does he deserve a second chance? Three other people ran for the job? Where is Scott Kamina or Rao or Judy Lloyd? What about Karen Stepper, Mary Piepho or Joe Rubay? Or how about old school, Jean Last or Gordon Blake if they are still around?
$250 a ticket? Sorry to say, I don’t think I’ll be making it to this one.
