Where’s Joan? Wilson Site tracks Absent Assemblywoman Buchanan (AD-15)

by BGR on January 25, 2010

where's joan, ad-15, california 15th assembly district, buchanan legislative voting record, grading joan buchanan, race to the top, republican abram wilson, democrat joan buchanan, san ramon mayor abram wilson,

The forthcoming Assembly DIstrict 15 brouhaha promises to be a hard-hitting affair as San Ramon Mayor, Republican Abram Wilson’s campaign has launched a Where’s Joan website, which purports to follow the oft-absent incumbent Democrat Joan Buchanan.

Quoting the Sacramento Bee, that a Buchanan abstention marks “a disturbing pattern of abdication of her duty as a legislator,” the Wilson campaign asks— since the voters of the 15th District made the effort to vote for “Where’s Joan?” – shouldn’t Buchanan return the favor and vote for them in Sacramento?

Hijinks ensue, of course.

Edi – Yes, I am saying that he is an absentee Republican when it comes to attending Alameda County Republican Central Committee meetings. An argument can also be made that he was no where to be found during his 2008 campaign for State Assembly. Now, I do realize that he’s the Mayor of San Ramon, and therefore attending central committee meetings may not be a high priority on his list. That’s understandable to me. However, I am offended that he would appoint Paige DeAngelo (another absentee Republican) as his alternate (to act & vote on his behalf) that would vote against confirming volunteers, in his own district, to fill vacant seats on the committee. And if Mayor Wilson thinks that I am unaware that he is serving the special interests’ of Paul Cummings, Dick Spees, and the rest of the RINOs in Alameda County for their $10,000 campaign contribution during his failed 2008 run, he’s only kidding himself. Mark my words, Mayor Wilson, your actions and political favors will hurt your campaign in Livermore… I will make sure of it! And in a close race, it may just be the difference.

So you are saying that Wilson is an absentee Republican?

I’m no fan of Buchanan, but Wilson is nothing to get excited about, especially if he plans to run another ‘out of sight; out of mind’ campaign this time around. Readers may find it interesting that he recently appointed Paige DeAngelo as his alternate on the Alameda County Republican Central Committee because he himself hasn’t been able to make it to a monthly meeting. In fact, Abram Wilson has failed to attend any monthly meetings since June 2008 (his entire term). DeAngelo served on the committee during the 2006-2008 term. She was a do-nothinger that was removed for failing to attend meetings. Abram Wilson should be advised that sending an appointed alternate to vote against confirming nominated “volunteers” in the district he would like to respresent can not possibly be good for his campaign. Wilson has already lost several votes in the 15th Assembly District for appointing Paige DeAngelo to represent him in Alameda County. Now, Abram Wilson should ask himself if his newly appointed alternate is worth creating enemies of his campaign. In a close race, it might just be the difference.
