Wake up and smell the Depression

by BGR on July 6, 2009

abc, bureau of labor statistics, capitalists, depression, economic policy, financial meltdown, george miller, obama, recovery act, second stimulus

The scary thing is listening to Joe Biden explain economic policy. Stimulus Shimulus. Payrolls are dropping like a rock and Joe Biden can’t complete a sentence. Just great.

Read the headlines and smell the Depression folks: 51 banks have now failed, office vacancies are dropping with rents, foreclosure rate rising past 65%, and job losses climb.

RecoveryJune2009-1I watched Joe Biden on ABC Sunday and he did nothing but cop a plea of nolo contendre. Sounded a lot like the Bush Administration saying they were misinformed about WMD. Bad Intel.

Here’s the bad intel: see Obama’s claims of how many jobs would be saved against real data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and you get the real picture. The intel says clearly, Obama’s Recovery Act is a failure.

Even those on the real Left—not Wall Street’s cheap party hats like George Miller and Ellen Tauscher—are coming to realize that Obama is not the change they thought they were voting for. As one commenter at FDL wrote:

We will have another financial meltdown within ten years and there will be widespread pain and much anger when the people realize that the great Treasury looting of 2008 endorsed by this Wall Street-owned president has left this country completely exposed to ruin while finance capitalists and their chattel, the politicians of both parties, ride off with bags full of what once was our money.

More than likely, Obama will continue to dissemble and deflect balme until he can play the second stimulus as a 2010 mid-term campaign ploy to help shore up the Democratic majority that will surely be feeling the heat from their current failure.

Clearly the first Stimulus was not so much too little, but too much down the drain. All it has done is fund more government instead of creating jobs. More of the same is not the answer.

Listening to Joe Biden talk about anything at all can be terrifying. What kind of bad judgment does it require to hire this buffoon for anything, much less the Vice Presidency?

As for Obama, I am waiting for the Kool-Aid drinkers to wake up and smell the coffee. (Sorry for the mixed metaphor.) He is breaking campaign promises left and right, just like any other politician. I don’t think he and his tax-evader staff members have a clue what they are doing.

In case anybody reads this and wants to call me a neocon Republican, I will mention that I am a “decline-to-state” INDEPENDENT registered voter. I don’t respect any political party. If I ever found a politician I could respect, I might faint.

“Bah! Humbug!”
