Chris Reed at SignOn SanDiego writes that Tom Campbell, a moderate Republican vying for a spot in the 2010 California Governor race, is considering dropping that campaign in favor of instead joining Carly Fiorina and Chuck DeVore for the sheer joy of running this Fall against incumbent California Senator, Barbara “Babs” Boxer.
With Campbell increasingly seen as the fifth wheel of the 2010 California Governor race dominated so far by Republican Meg Whitman and Democrat Jerry Brown, Reed opines that such a move would pave the way for conservative Chuck Devore as Campbell and Fiorina split the RINO vote.

As predicted by Chris Reed at the San Diego Union and reported here, Tom Campbell has quit his 2010 campaign for California Governor to join the GOP Senate Primary race to take down Democrat incumbent Barbara “Babs” Boxer.

We have accordingly removed Campbell from the Governor Race reference poll and added his name to the Senate poll section nearby.
This can only mean good news for conservative Chuck DeVore. Did his campaign pay Campbell to be a spoiler by splitting the moderate vote with Carly Fiorina?
And who knows. If Brown beats Coakley in Massachusetts, maybe a conservative male can beat Boxer in California.
