In an e-mail sent on Monday, July 24th, to Concord’s Police Chief and copied to the Concord City Council, City Manager, and Assistant City Manager, Ryan Huff, a journalist for the Contra Costa Times, complained to the Police and City officials that Craig Andersen, cited as an attorney representing DeNova Homes, threatened the reporter with bodily harm in a phone message that Huff offered to provide to the police. A hardcopy of the e-mail can be obtained from the public correspondance folder of the City of Concord, and is excerpted here:
“Hi Chief Livingston,
“I wanted to bring to your attention a voice mail that was left on my
machine on Sunday 7/23. It was from Craig Andersen (925-602-1403), an
attorney for DeNova Homes. He apparently wasn’t too fond of an article I
wrote in Sunday’s paper about a DeNova Homes condo proposal that goes
before the City Council on Tuesday night.
“In his voice mail, he made verbal threats of bodily harm, saying he
would seek me out at the Tuesday night Council meeting. He said, “If you
show up Tuesday night, I will f—ing punch your a– out, you son of a
b—-.”
“I will be at the Tuesday council meeting and I understand Mr. Andersen
will be there too. I have asked him not to have contact with me. I am
concerned for my safety and want to bring this to your attention so that
any appropriate action can be taken. I have a copy of Mr. Andersen’s
voice mail and would be happy to provide it to the police.
“Thanks for your attention to this matter.

I like “halfway to Concord.com” – I pray someone screams loud enough to be heard around the world. AND. . . WHY NO EIR (FOR MASONIC TEMPLE). . . that’s unthinkable, and only one answer to such a decision. After reading about the reporter that was threatened – should we be concerned for the safety of our scheduled volunteer sitters at the Gallery not to mention the thousands of dollars of original art in that building? I noticed, too, the “vanishing Walnut Creek,” and can say from my perspective, that’s an understatement and for another time.
