A brutally honest campaign mailer appearing in mailboxes today and financed by Warren Rupf, Contra Costa County Sheriff, endorses Assemblyman Guy Houston in the District 3 Supervisor Race. Sheriff Rupf says: “I’ve lost all trust in Mary Piepho.” Rupf is also quoted in the mailer saying, “Our County is not safe in the hands of Mary Piepho and that’s why I am 110% in support of Guy Houston.”

See the campaign mailer from Sheriff Warren Rupf.

Rupf joins the County’s elected financial chiefs County Assessor Gus Kramer, Auditor Steve Ybarra, and Treasurer Bill Pollacek in supporting Guy Houston.

The Contra Costa County Taxpayer Association will hold its monthly breakfast on March 28, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Greenery, located at 5151 Marchbanks, just above Heather Farms, off Ygnacio in Walnut Creek.

Guest speaker will be County Auditor-Controller Steve Ybarra. Steve is one of the elected officials that few people hear about. He works hard for taxpayers and is an expert in financial matters. Steve was a member of the County’s OPEB Task Force that issued the March 1, 2007 report that revealed the County’s $2.6 billion (and growing) liability for retiree health benefits. With the County budget process scheduled for April, it will be good to get an impartial view of County’s finances. There will also be news on the latest issues in the county and state as well as the June ballot issues including the two eminent domain propositions.

$20.00 includes full breakfast. RSVP ASAP, as these events do sell out. Send reservations by phone, e-mail or visit www.cocotax.org. If you have questions, please call Kris Hunt at 925-228-5610 or e-mail her at krishunt@cocotax.org. Prepayment is greatly appreciated. Checks should be mailed to: P.O. Box 27, Martinez, CA 94553.
