Jack Cashill to tell “Untold Stories” to Contra Costa Republican Women, Oct 16

The Contra Costa County Republican Women Federated present Jack Cashill on Tuesday, October 16th, at the Crow Canyon Country Club in San Ramon from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Mr. Cashill’s topic will be: “What the Media hasn’t told you about TWA Flight 800, the death of Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, and What’s really the matter with California!”
Jack Cashill has written for Fortune, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Weekly Standard and regularly for WorldNetDaily.com. Within the last four years, Mr. Cashill has written four books of non-fiction—First Strike, Ron Brown’s Body, Hoodwinked, and Sucker Punch. Three of them have cracked Amazon’s top ten list. Mr. Cashill has produced over a dozen documentaries for regional PBS and national cable channels, including the Emmy Award-winning, “The Royal Years.” Mr. Cashill has a Ph.D. from Purdue University and served as a Fulbright professor in France. His latest book is What’s the Matter with California.

Supervisor Piepho to address Contra Costa County Taxpayers breakfast, Oct 26

Contra Costa County Supervisor Mary Piepho (D-III), will address the upcoming breakfast meeting of the Contra Costa County Taxpayers Association, to be held Friday, October 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., at the Black Bear Diner located on Bancroft off Treat in Walnut Creek.
Piepho is Chair of the Board of Supervisors and a member of the Finance Committee and will speak about current County finances and other topics. The meeting will include discussion of the “Pension Prop 13″ initiative to control pension and health care costs of public employees.

Hospice Tree of Lights ceremonies in 16 cities, beginning Nov 11

Hospice of the East Bay (formerly Hospice and Palliative Care of Contra Costa) invites the public to participate in its 21st annual Tree of Lights ceremonies to be held in 16 cities throughout Contra Costa in November and December. Every light on each tree is symbolic of a life and will shine in honor or memory of a friend or family member. Please join any of the commemorative ceremonies to enjoy music, poetry, talks by local dignitaries and the special moment when the tree is lit.
A suggested donation of $20 per light can be made by sending a tax-deductible check to Hospice Foundation of the East Bay at 3470 Buskirk Avenue , Pleasant Hill , CA 94523 . Credit card donations may be made by calling Joy at the Foundation office (925) 887-5678. Please note which tree you choose to buy a light for, and the name of the person being remembered or honored. Casino Royale fundraiser for Community Youth Center, Nov 3

The Community Youth Center (CYC) will hold a Casino Royale fundraiser November 3 at its facility located in Concord at 1381 Galaxy Way. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Activities include casino style games, silent auction, with prizes, food and dessert stations. All proceeds go to support the CYC’s youth sports and academic programs.
Tickets are $35 per person that includes one free beverage and raffle ticket, $25 of “magic” money, and a one month membership at the Big C Athletic Club. Various sponsorships are still available.
