Here is some good SOPA background from CNET DC writer. Naturally there’s a wild-eyed Tea Party Republican behind this measure to curry favor for Hollywood and Big Music. Lamar Smith (R-TX) may believe he is arguing for property rights (of a slavish studio and music publishing industry that has no clue) but at the same time he gives the Department of Justice WAY TOO MUCH unchecked authority, and there in lay the battle. I am hanging with the EFF on this one.
