I am hearing a lot of carping lately about how Obama is going to raise taxes and is driving spending through the roof and tanking the economy. As Bill Maher recently said if “McCain had won the economy would be fine because Sarah Palin would still be shopping.” Katie bar the door; the Democrats are coming for more money!
Well. That is what Democrats do. They like taxes. They like government. They like BIG GOVERNMENT! And so do Republicans! Is anybody really surprised? Obama is doing what he knows best to try and save the country from the mess George W. Bush left the country in.
Look. I don’t like paying taxes and I don’t like anybody telling me I need to pay more taxes. But Republicans have been giving the American people a bait and switch scheme for a long time. For several Republican administrations I have been hearing from Republican politicians that they are for shrinking government, cutting taxes, and cutting government spending and a balanced budgets.
Turns out Republicans can be good at cutting taxes but that is about it. They are just like the Democrats in every way except one. The Democrats unlike the Republicans are not hypocrites when it comes to how they behave financially. Democrats believe that government programs help people and they are willing and ready to pay for these programs by raising our taxes.
Republicans on the other hand like to play a ponzi scheme. They will run around and jabber that they are for small government, low taxes, and spending cuts of wasteful and abusive programs, and balanced budgets. But after Reagan and Bush pere et fils and twelve years in control of Congress, guess what? Outside of cutting taxes the rhetoric never matches deeds. Republicans have played the American people for fools because they were more interested in staying in and maintaining their power in elected office than being honest with the American people.
Here’s a suggestion to all of those disaffected Republican politicians who poisoned the well; and to all the political activists that stood on the sideline while we were being led off a cliff: I say take a bite off of a shit sandwich.
After years of leaning too hard on the Bullshit Button, how does it taste? Better learn to enjoy it because the American people no longer believe your crap!

What is the hardest job in government? Answer: cutting spending.
In 1963, the federal government spent $100 billion annually. There was a small deficit. Today, the federal budget is $3.5 trillion — a 35-fold increase. And the current budget has a $1 trilion deficit.
In 1963, a salary of $10,000 a year was reasonable. If one’s 1963 salary of $10,000 went up 35 times, today the comparable salary would be $350,000.
Most people in America don’t make $350,000 a year.
The time has come to have a Constitutional Amendment that will demand a balanced budget and will allow only a 1% increase in spending per year. The penalty for any elected federal official who breaches these conditions should be a mandatory 5 years in jail.
America is spending its way to bankruptcy. The Republicans and the Democrats offer no solututions.
The time has come for a peaceful citizen’s uprising. The time has also come for new political parties — parties pledged to fiscal integrity.
Americans can do what’s needed. No one should ever underestimate the power of citizens who live in a democracy.

How is it possible that Renegade Republican and I can agree on something, albeit not everything in the article, but some. Must be time to get some Prozac.
Amen to that brother, you got it right!
