On July 9, 2009, Gary Clift, of Solano County, notified the Solano County Registrar of Voters of his intention to file nomination papers as a candidate for the Republican Party nomination to the office of Congressional District 10 (CD-10). He says:

My candidacy stems from a genuine concern for California and the United States of America. I am distressed by the accelerated government growth at the Federal level. I believe that the current level of federal borrowing is unsustainable and that Congress must legislate a responsible balanced budget.

My supporters and I are offended that individuals who are elected participants in California’s dysfunctional State Government are so out of touch with the current condition of the State that they would consider running for the U.S. Congress. There is work to do here in California and they want to go to Washington. My candidacy will give the voters of this district an opportunity to elect a representative who represents the citizens of our district and the US Constitution.

Clift joins fellow Republicans

- Chris Bunch (Fairfield)
- David Harmer (Alamo)
- David Peterson (Walnut Creek)
- John Toth (Pleasant Hill)

Unfortunately, the small circle of leadership of the Contra Costa Republican Party directed by Tom Del Beccaro, has already illegally decided to support David Harmer. We wonder why. Follow the money.

Boy after reviewing the Republican candidates for CD10 I realized the fact that that politics is show business for ugly people.

I like this Clift guy. he is kind of freaky.

I like what Mr. Clift has to say. You have to respect a man who tells it like it is. It’s nice to see the Republican field of candidates getting stronger with the addition of a conservative that values the U.S. Constitution. Chris Bunch has also expressed his support for H.R.1207, while David Harmer has failed to respond to my questions about the hotest piece of legislation making its way through the House of Representatives with over 250 individual co-sponsors, and a companion bill (S.604) in the Senate. I’m not sure about Peterson or Toth. I’ll have to get back to you on that one. But, don’t ask Lt. Governor Garamendi (D)about H.R.1207… he still hasen’t read the 1-page bill. Damn Democrats… they only like the ones that are 1,000 pages plus!

A few members from ACRP and the CCRP are in the process of sharing some ideas in an effort to organize a CD-10 Republican Candidate Forum. The Democrats have already held four or five for their candidates, and CD-10 Republican voters deserve better. I’d like to see a series of forums for Republicans and maybe a Democrats vs. Republicans Debate right before the election to cap things off.
