Stephen Lazarus of CPJ reports that the New York Times today published an article by Peter Steinfels that makes the case for religious exemptions for faith-based social service agencies. In particular, he points to the recent California ruling that San Francisco-based Catholic Charities must provide employees with access to contraception as part of its employee benefits program.
