One of the highlights of my free time has been a podcast that a friend and I have created. Discovering music through friends is infinitely better than being assaulted with It-Girl fads from mass media. Allá is just one artist I discovered through my podcasting partner. This chicano trio out of Chicago blends sounds from latin roots with elements of 60s psychadelic music.

I am a huge fan of artists that successfully blend genres and styles into new creations. It’s a hard thing to get right. Often, the result mixes as well as oil and water. Case in point: Audioslave, the project of Chris Cornell and members of Rage Against the Machine. I felt that their album was like being at a music festival while Rage and Soundgarden played simultaneously on adjacent stages. The music just didn’t blend.

Allá’s blend of music was a frequent soundtrack for roadtrips in the blending between Spring and Summer.
