Mt Diablo CARES hosts Lights on After School, October 12th

by BGR on October 9, 2006

October 12 will mark the seventh annual Lights On Afterschool, organized nationally by the Afterschool Alliance. More than a million people are expected to rally for afterschool this year, at some 7,500 events around the country.

Mt. Diablo CARES After School Program is a collaborative between the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Ambrose Recreation & Park District and the City of Concord’s Community & Recreation Services currently serving over 2,000 youth at 14 schools in Concord, Pleasant Hill, and Bay Point communities. Since 1999, Mt. Diablo CARES has been providing a safe place for children, helping working families and inspiring students to learn during the hours between 3:00-6:00. This January, CARES will be opening up to 12 new Afterschool Programs in the hopes of reaching over 3,000 youth each day.

Visit one of these locations October 12, 2006, 3:00 – 5:30 pm to see After School in action. Sort of an Open House for After school programs. Good stuff, Maynard!
