And 1994 pages is easy peasy.
This chart is awful. It doesn’t even provide any factual information, it just shows the appearance that it might be complicated to find if you doctor is covered. The current system of HMOs is no different, if you switch employeers you’ll have to switch insurance companies and then this chart would apply equally as well.
There is no cure-all, and it’s hardly a Republican only idea. It is frowned upon as states and feds invested in the status quo have already made deals with BIG insurance (Pelosi; same for Obama’s deals with BIG Pharma) while at the same time demonizing them. Being able to buy insurance across state lines is just one of many ways to implement the principle that insurance, like life, property, or car insurance, is something one owns instead of one’s employer or the federal government.
I keep hearing this business about allowing competition from other states from mostly Republicans as the cure all for the Health Care situation. However have you noticed that there is no single stand alone measure to allow it?
I recently took a trip overseas and looked into medical coverage for the overseas travel. I wonder if it would work in reverse as it seemed cheaper than what Anthem wanted, after all I could simply say I was traveling to America– guess there would be a loop hole somewhere.
That’s a hard road, Edi, I agree. But maybe it would be easier if you got the same $3.5T subsidy employers get over a decade and could buy that policy from Aetna in North Carolina instead of California.
I have worked for myself for the last few decades and if you want scary, be 60 and have coverage with Blue Cross-Wellpoint-Anthem for 30 years.
I can’t wait to ask my doctor what he thinks about all of this. He was born, raised, and educated in Canada, and he moved here to get away from the Canadian version of socialized medicine. He is an excellent doctor, and since he is over 50, I’m worried that he will opt to retire if Obamacare proves to be the bureaucratic nightmare that I’m fearing it will be.
I have worked for the federal government and for the county. I don’t want the government to be in charge of my medical care. Scary.
