Karl Rove Truth or Consequences Culture Jam

by BGR on March 24, 2010 · 2 comments

karl rove, courage and consequence, lafayette california, march 30, culture jam, music and politics, veterans memorial hall, conan neutron, heavenly states, rival dickens, have special power, assistant cobra, lambs of abortion, we're gonna fight the eskimos next, cartographer, death dream, generalissimo, cold lake, hurry up shotgun, united sons of toil, victory and associates

With the Architect himself, Karl Rove, scheduled to appear at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Lafayette March 30, it is apt that we introduce the new grassroots rock-n-roll compilation protesting the release of, according to the musical producers, Rove’s “book of self-aggrandizing contrivance of his political past, “Courage and Consequence,” in all of its hard-bound, chicken hawk glory.”

“On March 3rd, 2010, a coalition of up-and-coming rock bands released an anticipatory sonic recollection of the gross misdeeds attributable to Rove over the past decade, “Courage and Consequence: The Unabridged Audio,” in all of its aggressively righteous indignation.”

Order “Karl Rove: Courage and Consequence” Guarantee yourself a copy of this historic document and help preserve a truly fair and balanced chronicle of the first decade of the New American Century.

Thanks for the mention Bill!
Very timely, since the Heavenly States perform at the Bottom of the Hill in SF friday the 26th, other artists on the comp Hurry Up Shotgun and Cartographer (of the aforementioned “Biggest Asshole in the World” song) and Generalissimo play with Texas’s the pAperchAse at the Ghost town Gallery in Oakland and Hemlock in SF on the 27th and 28th respectively.

All of these aren’t nearly amazing as the “secret show” Karl is pulling in Lafayette of all places. Devious of him and the CCRP to try and sneak it in under the radar like this. I was not even aware of this event until yesterday and I am very plugged in.

I’m not sure what all is planned for this event, and I don’t want to turn it to crass commercialism, but in the interest of helping this project, others like it and helping us ruin Karl’s day, you can purchase a copy. We’ve almost broke even on our manufacturing and distribution costs, and pretty soon will even be able to pay the brave bands! (Who would have think it?)

And if you cannot do that, even just spreading the word… like this post, helps greatly. We did beat his book release by one week and the more people know about this, the more mentions it gets the more effective the culture jamming of Rove’s ridiculous memoir. Every neocon smile turned frown at our little project, is a dividend paid to us all. Speaking of paid: Rove gets $25,000 for every event like this, think about that for a minute and how much good that could do in the community.

We made this record with 1/8th that. If you feel so inclined, you can buy a copy of our record for the much more reasonable price of $20, or just listen or download for free.

Oh and for those that didn’t see it, he’s already come face to face with the record: http://bit.ly/ceA6m4
A juicy tale that bears reading on it’s own, at the very least for the picture. Oh how I’d love to repeat history with that on the 30th!

Catchy tunes, esp. the first one side B. So the CCRP is hosting the Biggest Asshole in the World? Not surprising, considering they’re the Biggest Assholes in California
