To the Editor:
Timid bozos or candidates entrenched in office because of help from special interests dominate Congress. To determine who should replace departing Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher voters ought to ask each candiate for Tauscher’s seat the following questions:
(1) Should government stay out of individuals’ personal lives?
(2) Can the federal budget be balanced by 2011 and the national debt reduced to $5 trillion by 2020?
(3) Will a new energy policy raise electricity costs?
(4) Can federal tax rates be kept where they are or lowered?
(5) Should secret-ballot procedures be maintained in unonizaton elections?
(6) Should bankrupt companies be bailed out by the federal government?
(7) Should teachers’ unions be allowed to block the creation of charter schools?
(8) Can certain government services be privatized?
(9) What is the best way to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as quickly as possible?
(10) Should the federal government pledge not to renew the draft?
