This item just in from Michael Caporusso, the campaign manager for Harmer for Congress.

Clinton’s appearance at a Garamendi Whistle-Stop at SFO Airport, is a sign of weakness in Garamendi’s campaign. Garamendi’s opponents battered him in the recent Primary as an opportunist who dumped his faltering gubernatorial bid to run for an easier seat, and does not even live in the district. According to Caporusso: “Clearly, Clinton’s appearance is another sign of how close this race is. If Garamendi had this wrapped up, he wouldn’t need the former president to fly across the country and make a campaign stop for him. We also find it interesting that Garamendi is holding this event outside the district, especially since he doesn’t live in the district.”

Actually Clinton’s visit means one thing and one thing only, money. Garamendi can afford the candidates statement, Harmer? Not so much.

Let’s see, the last time Harmer ran for Congress it was in UTAH, now that is out of the District.
The number of Republican ex presidents that are standing by Harmer is…none
Harmer is afraid to be associated with the fact that he has supported the Bush Republicans and was part of the New Gingrich Republican movement when he was in Utah.
So given the association game, I think Garamendi wins big.
