The Coalition for Fair Employment, a trade group that supports NO votes for Project Labor Agreements around the County has taken Brentwood City Councilman Chris Bechnel to task for voting for a PLA for Brentwood’s $75M Civic Center, that would insure union-only workers get jobs on the project.

In a recent e-mail the business group says, “Despite the fact that this 5 person city council had 4 Republicans on it, including Bechnel, the unions were still able to get a PLA through. Bechnel, due to the odious manner with which he supported the PLA, including having to lie to justify his actions, is now about to learn just how costly this vote was.”

The message floating around mailboxes of activists cites an effort for Bechnel to be removed as an alternate to the Contra Costa Republican Central Committee. In an e-mail allegedly from Chuck Handwork to the CCRP, Handwork recommends Bechnel’s replacement on the central committee.:

That’ll show Bechnel.

Now; whether Greg Poulos, the ersatz chair of the GOP County Central Committee and antiquarian—having lost his election to the body, yet was illegally named Chair and proxy for oft-absent brow beater, Tom Del Beccaro—actually has the right or cajones to follow Handwork’s request without first consulting with Mr Big, is another matter. Poulos won’t appoint a replacement to the Central Committee unless vetted by Del Beccaro first, what with people clamoring for open elections and budget transparency trying to take over the party apparatus.

Such as it is.
