County GOP closing office

by BGR on February 5, 2009

Contra Costa County Republican Party, CCCRP, GOP, California, walnut creek, republican central committee, Tom Del Beccaro

In what appears to be a yearly migration, the Contra Costa County GOP will again close its office in Walnut Creek say sources. This amid a dismal bank account balance and outstanding bills yet to pay.

The irony is poignant as Tom Del Beccaro was tabbed last year by the State Republican Party to raise the big bucks for the party. Del Beccaro is the former County Chairperson who recently threw aside Central Committee bylaws to keep his broken hearts club together in power.

As Deep Throat whispered, “Follow the money.”

- Federal Acct $446.26
- State Acct $991.03
- Total ending balance for the Contra Costa Republican Party as of 12/31/08 = $1,437.29

Unfortunately, following the money is tough to do when the Central Committee have hardly ever seen any real financials. Some of the more gullible members were told it was “secret,” when in fact it’s available online. These same thralls of Del Beccaro believed and did what they were told, “everything was fine and anyone who asks for financials are troublemakers trying to take over the party.”

How bad a shape is the California Republican Party in?

It’s so bad that Del Beccaro can run unopposed for State Republican vice-chair. Hopefully the screeching sound you hear from Del Beccaro supporters is the sound of the California GOP scraping against failure as it grinds to a complete halt.

Hopefully we’ve hit bottom.

I’ve also seen and heard what happens to those who don’t kowtow to Tom Del Beccaro. Maybe the camp followers are going to wake up to his lies when they find out about the money situation. Everyone has been told his events all make so much money when the obviously don’t.

The truth can set you free Tom. Maybe it will set the state party free of Tom as well.

I am truly disgusted the way Del Beccaro and his chosen few run the Contra Costa Central Committee as their own little club. Apparently they twist the bylaws around to suit their own benefit, not the benefit of the Republican party.

Del Beccaro seems to be the puppetmaster and Poulos the puppet on the string. If Del Beccaro is such an outstanding money raiser, why is the CCRP in such dire financial straits?

While twisting the bylaws to fit his needs is appalling, the more important issue will turn out to be the money, where did it go, how was it used? Why aren’t bills paid? A full fianancial disclosure is owed to every member of the Central Committee and to every genuine Republican in the county.

Will such a disclosure come about? Not if the “old guard” can prevent it. It will have to be forced from them. Hopefully enough pressure will be brought to bear by the Central Committee members to make this happen.

I laughed out loud when I learned that Tom had to bring in the ever pathetic Steven Frank from out of town to be Del Beccaro’s hand picked parliamentarian for the last meeting. I bet Frank wet his pants as he gushed Tom’s praises before shushing people and pontificating about rules that would help Del Beccaro’s gang manipulate the meeting.

This is how deep the stench goes in the Party. It’s a gang of losers that don’t know how to make a graceful exit.

Time to show ‘em the door.

I have more than one report of foul play, threats of physical violence, secrets, and all around shenanigans coming from the old power structure of the CCRP. I have personally talked with several people about how they have been blackballed at committee meetings, and cannot attend any more ccrp events because of the malice and hatred spewed their way. Quite frankly, I don’t blame them. Who wants to be a part of something where a little “club” of mouseketeers rally around a fox?

It seems to me the central committee had better seriously investigate these claims because Del Beccaro is not only irrelevant now, but blocking progress for the party. We need to follow examples of other local central committees and start opening up the books, asking for help, encouraging participation and welcome critics who want to see the ccrp flourish (but are concerned citizens).

There is something to be said for healthy debate, and I would welcome those critics as long as they stay civil. That would also include Del Beccaro and Poulos as well. Perhaps the best thing for the party is to listen to letters from elected committee members like Ken Hambrick (who placed 2nd in his district) and take these allegations seriously.

I want everyone to show up at the next organizational meeting so we can re-elect our executive committee properly this time and without people like Stephen Frank buzzing around trying to “keep people in line”. Thank you, but we have smart people out there who know Roberts rules of order as well. We are also smart enough to read the bylaws as well.

One last point, on Jan 6th, there was a motion to “immediately” fill all the vacancies which required a 2/3 vote. Unfortunately, since there was no executive committee and permanent chairman elected yet, it didn’t count. We still have an unformed executive committee, Greg Poulos is a loser (he lost his district as #12 out of 13 people who ran) who attempted to seize power again through proxy and Tom Del Beccaro is losing his puppet master charm as every day goes by.

Nobody wants an embattled leadership who can’t even inspire confidence in its members. For those undying followers, take a serious look at why you participate in the CCRP central committee and whether its to inspire new blood for the Republican party or to woo and cling to Tom and Greg.

The Mouseketeer club house is closing down and there are unpaid bills but nobody thought it was important enough to give out a financial statement or tell anybody about it. Is the Central Committee awake? Where’s the Treasurer? Where’s that fund raising genius Del Beccaro?

Remove those Mickey Mouse ears from Del Beccaro now! You’re giving Mickey Mouse a bad name being associated with the likes of him and his buddies. Jimmie and Roy wouldn’t have disgraced the Mickey Mouse Club like this. I bet they wouldn’t have let the Mickey Mouse Club treasurer get away without giving a report even if she had Annette Funicello’s knockers.

Jimmie and Roy probably wouldn’t have thought having Del Beccaro’s old girlfriend as treasurer was a good idea any way. The Central Committee better wake up or better yet just throw the bums out.

Wow the Contra Costa Republican Party is moving to a secret location. Maybe they are going the way of the Mt Diablo Dough Dough Bird.

Funny how different counties operate. I recieved an email today from the San Mateo County Republican Party. They want people to attend their meetings. They don’t hold events in secret locations or charge for the privliage of attending.
They seem interested in growing the party. I may have to drive over there just to see the difference.

Most, if not all, of what is mentioned above is true or damn close.

1. The S Broadway office is closing and moving to an undisclosed site.
2. There are lots of unpaid bills.
3. End of year filing for state and feds show about $1400 cash ending balance so essentially no money.
4. No financial report provided in the Jan 6 meeting but promised for the February meeting.
5. The February 11 meeting has been “mysteriously” moved to the 19th by the executive committee but the members have not been told of this as yet because “they are looking for a site where to hold it”.

Kudos to Halfway To Concord for reporting the truth.
