George Miller votes against Immigration Bill

by BGR on February 11, 2005

What do Americans want? Due process or secure borders and control of illegal immigration? Today, my Congressman, Rep. Jorge Miller (D-Martinez) voted against the House Immigration Bill that, among other things if passed by the Senate, would create a fence between the U.S. and Mexico, and require the States to comply with Federal standards regarding what features drivers’ licenses must have and required documentation. 161 Democrats voted against the Bill, and Mexico expressed its opposition as well.

OK, we cannot have it both ways, or can we?

- Is America based on freedom or security?
- Does this legislation overstep Federal authority?
- Do we want to enact laws that will have no judicial review?
- Or why not simply enforce existing law and deport illegals and lose the fence?
