In its first election countdown meeting, the Diablo Valley Democratic Club will hear about the latest in campaign strategy and how to help Barack Obama and local candidates in big and small ways. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., at Democratic Campaign headquarters, 1501A N. California Blvd., at Bonanza, Walnut Creek. Obama delegate Ken Richard will speak and Obama’s platform will be discussed. Bill Roth, green energy consultant to the website Entrepreneur.com, will compare the Obama and McCain energy programs.

Serving Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Clayton and Martinez, the Diablo Valley Democratic Club is a grassroots organization supporting progressive values and causes. Monthly meetings include candidates’ forums, and presentations on healthcare, taxation, voting accuracy, the environment, the war in Iraq and other timely topics. Members get regular updates on related community activities and resources. Local, state and national issues are explored.
