Fabricating ever cheesier and shameless photo ops for his Assembly campaign, County Supervisor DeSaulnier has proposed an anti-war resolution to pull all of California’s National Guard overseas back home, because there might be an earthquake or flood.
Tom Del Beccaro, chairman of the Contra Costa County Republican Party said, “Supervisors have no business inserting themselves into foreign policy issues. Given the state of our county’s financial situation, it is deplorable that Supervisor De Saulnier would waste our county resources to play partisan political games.”

I’ll be up against him. Not sure who the Republicans have running, but I’m working like crazy to get on the ballot and then get my name out there as a Libertarian. It’s always harder for us, but the message is clear – California, like Contra Costa, needs a much saner approach to spending and taxation. If DeSaulnier is Assemblyman, we’ll be drinking saltwater when the levees break in the Delta because nothing will be done about that looming disaster.
We have got to stop this guy from furthering his political career of walking over those that he represents.
All this feel good garbage taking up County time and resources while the county goes broke is shameless.
One observer at today’s Board of Supervisors reports that:
“The Resolution to call for the withdrawal of all California national Guards troops from overseas promoted by District 4 Supervisor and Assembly candidate Mark DeSaulnier was defeated this afternoon at the Board Of Supervisors meeting.
“Here is how the vote went:
DeSaulnier YES
Gioia YES
Piepho NO
Uilkema ABSTAIN
Glover Did not vote (in comments he stated he would “abstain”)
“The speakers opposed to DeSaulnier’s Resolution overwhelmingly outnumbered the speakers in favor of it.
“In fact, Supervisor DeSaulnier stated his alliance with liberal Assemblywoman Loni Hancock in support of the Resolution. It is clear that Assembly candidate Mark DeSaulnier is out-of-step with the constituents of District 4 and the majority of the residents of Contra Costa County.”
This just drives me nuts.
He can’t run a county, but he wants us to trust him with the country.
