lafayette and ygnacio republican federated women protest overtaxation in Sacramento, Jun 11

Immediately after Democrats in Sacramento proposed a California state budget with a $3-Billion deficit and $6.4 Billion in new taxes, the Republican Women of Contra Costa County, including the Lamorinda and Ygnacio Valley Republican Women Federated jumped into action. The lovely ladies, every one, hijacked a bus to Sacramento June 11, calmly lunched on the South lawn of the Capitol, then riotously marched to the steps of the Capitol, where they held a press conference, insisted conservative leaders fight for No-New-Taxes, then lobbied State legislative offices to deliver their petitions as legislators cowered in their closets.

The “No More Taxes – We Are Taxed To The Max” action was sponsored by Americans for Prosperity. Thanks to Phyllis Stout, president of the Lamorinda Women, who used her one phone call from the Sacramento Police Department’s general booking station for the report and picture, and cell mate, Kris Hunt, for helping to organize the breakout back to Contra Costa County. What resourceful ladies!

Contra Costa County is going to need this same group of ladies to March on Martinez when the Board of Supervisors start raising the taxes in Contra Costa County. How else do you think they will try and handle their incompentent actions with regard to the the Pension and Health Funds. Oh yes, the big raise and increased benefits Piepho is going to give the Deputy Sheriffs for Bickert’s support and money he poured into discrediting Houston so Piepho could claim she knew nothing about it. You better not turn them down Mary, Bickert will not be happy if you don’t show him the money and put the County further in debt.

How wonderful that these local GOP women went to Sacramento to demand no more taxes and conservative principles!! Ladies I hope you had a great time.
The problem is nobody is listening. The Democrats and the governor don’t care and the vaunted Republican caucus will only give you lip service. Let’s not forget that Republican caucus in Sacramento are a big part of the problem for the GOP. They have engineered themselves into minority status in the legislature for 36 out of the last 38 years. The ultimate sell out was in 2001 when they reapportioned themselves into safe districts and continued the GOP’s permanent minority status. You have to ask yourself if our state elected leaders had stood their ground and fought for fair districts and lost could things be worse than they are today for the California Republican Party? It would have been worth a try.
The bottom line here is the only time Republicans are relevant in Sacramento is at budget time. GOP grass roots regulars have to ask themselves why do they continue to support bozo’s who run for office get elected and turn their backs on them on every level of government. The time is coming for a new type of republican elected leader who is accountable to the grassroots of the party. There will be plenty of time for reflection after the electorate takes its final assault on the failed G. W. Bush Presidency Republicans will be in the irrelevant ultra minority party for many years to come.
During these wilderness years the rebuilding can begin!!
