Republican Brad Goehring, a candidate for The 11th Congressional District currently held by Democrat Jerry McNerney, reports that his Facebook account was hacked early this morning.
So the dirty tricks already begin and it’s not even 2010?
Hardly. If the campaign team of David Harmer is any indication, politicos are just not that smart, and probably don’t care that much one way or another at this point. The culprit was just a good old fashioned offshore buggering by an internet phishing and e-mail spoofing gang pushing porn.
Apparently, the hackers used the opportunity to send out spoofed e-mails directing viewers to click thru to some web site. The message I received during this flare up was:
Saw thatt videoo yesterdday… How coould you do sometthing liike thaat?
http://tamara.ziegelin.com/602/
That URL resolves to
http://61.235.117.83/vvv.htm hosting a licentious XXX adult friend-finder site with site admin of China Railway Telecommunications Center… located in Poontang Province, no doubt.
Goehring quickly alerted his Facebook community around 10:25 a.m., this morning,
Just wanted to let you all know, since most of you are tied into my personal page that my facebook account was hacked yesterday and sent out a bunch of messages, some of which with salty language. I just want to apologize to anyone who may have received one of those from my account, it is being rectified as we speak. If you haven’t seen that message yet, be sure not to click on any suspicious links. The keys to recognizing them are really bad spelling and a link to an unknown video site.
Yours,
Brad Goehring
Goehring admitted that when it comes to the learning curve for Internet campaigns, “Yeah, it’s a bit of a learning experience for me.”
Anyways, the sex scandals are supposed to start after election, right?
