The City of Concord has extended the review and comment period for the Concord Naval Weapons Station draft Environmental Impact Report to Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. The original date of July 21 has been extended to allow additional time for review because of the size and complexity of the draft document.

A public meeting to receive oral and written comments will be held on Thursday, July 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Concord Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Dr. in the City Council Chamber. Written comments may also be submitted at any time before the deadline. The DEIR addresses the seven alternative concepts for reuse of the 5,028 acre site that is part of the former Inland Area of the Concord Naval Weapons Station.

The document can be reviewed at the Concord Community Reuse Project Office at Concord Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Dr., at libraries in Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill and Pittsburg, or on the Web at www.concordreuseproject.org.

Copies of the document are available on compact disc by sending an email request to Pamela.Laperchia@ci.concord.ca.us or by calling (925) 671-3001. All comments should be addressed to Michael Wright, Director of Community Reuse Planning at michael.wright@ci.concord.ca.us or (925) 671-3019. For more information, contact the project office, (925) 671-3001.
