Senate OKs abortion funding

by BGR on September 30, 2009

What’s behind the health care curtain? Apparently plenty. For example: An amendment (one of 546), from Senator Hatch to restrict abortion funding was defeated in committee 13-10.

It’s turning out Joe WIlson was right. The Senate today voted to reject photo IDs for health care thus paving the way for illegal immigrants to receive health care benefits under proposed health care reform espoused by Obama and the Democrats in Congress.

Elsewhere, Mark Hemingway peels back the curtain to document what other information is being kept under wraps:

1. Democrats are hiding the true cost of the bill.

2. Democrats don’t know how much the bill will cost — and don’t want anyone else to know, either.

3. The Democrats aren’t telling the truth about getting to keep your coverage.

4. The bill promises to provide more coverage to more people with less money and fewer doctors.

But more importantly, and missed in this list, is

5. What Congress isn’t telling anyone is where the cuts in Medicare are going to fall. How deep will the cuts be and how fast will they happen, which will impact what services seniors will lose and when.

Like the proverbial lobster in the pot of water it doesn’t realize the heat is increasing until it’s too late. All it will take is to push off the deep cuts until after the 2010 elections or even 2012 so Obama might escape the wrath of seniors across America in his re-election bid.

Meanwhile Senators including Pennsylvania’s Bob Casey (pictured nearby) and others not to mention the Catholic Bishops Conference and millions of pro-life supporters of health care reform are waiting for Obama to make good on the pledge he made three weeks ago before Congress not to have public monies go toward abortion within whatever healthcare bill moves forward.

Joe Wilson was right.

If you refuse to put in an amendment that says “this bill will not fund one horned one eyed purple people eaters’ it does not mean that you are in favor of same.

~ EDITOR AT A LOSS — Sorry Edi, I have no idea what that means. Please explicate.
