Reuters reports that New Line Cinema will produce an adpation of the Isaac Asimov epci sci-fi Foundation trilogy.
We can only pray that this production is more along the lines of LOTR than the unrecognizable stinkpot production of the recent I, Robot, starring Will Smith.
“Foundation” is based on Asimov’s “Foundation Trilogy,” which centers on a society that has figured out how to predict the future based on a method called psychohistory and sets up a foundation devoted to scientific research to protect itself and ensure its survival.”
As a great fan of Dan’l, the great thing about the Foundation and Robot series is that they were finally unified, even if in ways Asimov never anticipated in some of the details of his earlier Robot stories.

Just to say that I too am a great – no, HUGE – fan of Daneel (Dan’l?) from all the Robot novals, and ploughed through the last 4 Foundation books just to read more about him (Actually I did enjoy the books for their own sake too and loved Dors and Rayche and Ludovik and Gornon).
I admit to being slightly disappointed that what was hailed as ‘the brilliant robot leader’ wasn’t in fact a rebel (leading robots to a greater equality) as I’d first surmised, and was instead this faintly sad and desolate lone figure trying to ’save humanity’ – when humanity were completely unaware – and probably wouldn’t give much of a whatever as to whether they were being ’saved’ or not.
