SUPPORT of H.R. 1207 – The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009
Submitted by: David LaTour, Asst. Treasurer
Walter Stanley III, Vice Chairman
Brian Eschen, Asst. Secretary
Andrew Dirks, Member
Status of Proposal: Resolution Passed by Committee – 3/17/09
Sponsors of Legislation, H.R 1207: 39 Co-Sponsors, 32 House Republicans & 7 House Democrats
Description of Legislation, H.R. 1207: A Bill – To amend title 31, United States Code, to reform the manner in which the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is audited by the Comptroller General of the United States and the manner in which such audits are reported.
Status of Legislation: H.R. 1207 introduced 2/26/2009; referred to Committee on Financial Services
Resolution as Approved by Committee Vote
Whereas, we, as Members of the Alameda County Republican Party applaud transparency and accountability in government and reject government secrecy involving monetary policy that impacts the entire economy; and
Whereas, serious discussions of proposals to oversee and audit the Federal Reserve are long overdue; and
Whereas, the Federal Reserve can enter into agreements with foreign governments and foreign central banks and the United States Congress is prohibited from overseeing these agreements; and
Whereas, we, as Members of the Alameda County Republican Party, believe agreements made by the Federal Reserve with foreign powers and foreign banking institutions should be subject to Congressional oversight; and
Whereas, the United States Constitution, gives the United States Congress the authority to coin Money and regulate the value thereof and does not give Congress the authority to delegate control over monetary policy to a central bank; and
Whereas, auditing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to assert its constitutional authority over monetary policy and help to protect the value of the United States dollar;
Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Members of the Alameda County Republican Party, in defense of the United States Constitution, STRONGLY URGE the representatives of the 111th United States Congress to support the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.

Bay Area Dems are Missing in Action when it comes to HR 1207
Pelosi (D-8) and East Bay Dems Miller (D-7) and Lee (D-9) in addition to the Banking Queen Tauscher (D-10), McNerney (D-11), and Speier (12).
These are the last people in the world that would vote for transparency because they don’t want anyone to track how they waste TRILLIONS of stimulus as kickbacks to their supporters.
Where are the Progressives on this issue? It must hurt their heads to have to think George Miller never really was on the reservation.
Over half of the House has cosponsored this bill now. Amazing!
Wow! This makes me proud to be a Republican in Alameda County. I plan on calling my Congresswomen today to tell her to support auditing the FED! It is the least I can do when others seem to be doing so much! I hope it helps. Thank you!
The Republicans in Alameda County must really piss off the rino leadership of the CRP! They would never take a stand like this. Sometimes its good to go against the grain. Keep up the good work. I’m with you!
Thanks Alameda County! I can’t believe that you guys got the king of liberals to cosponsor the Audit the Fed bill. If Pete Stark signed on to h.r 1207 other Dems will too. There are 50 total cosponsors now!! I plan to phone McNerney today!
This story just went national…

Joanne,
Many other county committees won’t pass resolutions because they feel that it’s not their role to take positions on the issues. Some fear that they will turn off voters who disagree with them. In contrast, most of us in Alameda County feel that “taking positions” is the only way to truly motivate volunteers and recruit new Republicans. I recommend that you contact the CCRP about your feelings.
This is great! Why isn’t the Contra Costa G.O.P. doing the same?
Good job alameda county gop! After auditing the fed, we can abolish it!
